AAT Receives Wastewi$e Label - Class of Excellence by Hong Kong Awards for Environmental Excellence

Asia Airfreight Terminal Co Ltd (AAT) has been awarded 2013 Wastewi$e Label - Class of Excellence, the highest recognition in the category of waste reduction by Hong Kong Awards for Environmental Excellence (HKAEE). This great achievement and honour demonstrate that AAT has made another great leap from the Energywi$e Label – Class of Excellence attained early this year.

The Wastewi$e Label is a recognition scheme established under HKAEE led by the Environmental Campaign Committee alongside the Environmental Protection Department and in conjunction with nine other organizations. It is to encourage and recognize the efforts of Hong Kong businesses or organizations in adopting measures to reduce the amount of waste generated and recycle products.

AAT has set a series of waste reduction goals and we have successfully reduced the paper and plastic bag consumption by 14% from 1 April 2012 to 31 March 2013, actively promoted waste recycling initiative, and streamlined the handling process of used wooden pallets. By achieving these goals with exceptional efforts, AAT has therefore been recognised by HKAEE with the Class of Excellence Wastewi$e Label out of about 1,000 participants from different industries.

Mr Khaw Hock Eng, General Manager of AAT says, “AAT is proud to be recognised as an environmentally friendly company since environmental protection is of high importance in our business development. This significant milestone underscores the company’s effort to make CSR an integral part of AAT’s business activities. Moreover, we will continue to uphold the mission of sustainable development.”
