Hong Kong, 4 December 2023 - Asia Airfreight Terminal (AAT), a subsidy of SATS Ltd, is proud to announce that it has won the Asia's Leading SMEs award at the renowned Asia Corporate Excellence & Sustainability (ACES) Awards 2023. Out of 580 nominations from various Asian countries, AAT is the only winner in the category. The award recognizes our tireless efforts in driving best practices and sustainability in our business.
The ACES Awards, organized by the esteemed research-based sustainability network MORS Group since 2014, stands as the longest-running and most distinguished platform recognizing corporate leadership and sustainability in Asia.
Mike Chew, CEO of AAT, said “Sustainability has long been a cornerstone of AAT's vision, we have achieved a 50% reduction in carbon footprint since 2008, and has signed the HKIA 2050 Net Zero Carbon Pledge with a midpoint target of 55% absolute emissions reduction by 2035 from a 2018 baseline. We will continue to integrate sustainability principles throughout our operations to create long-term value for our stakeholders.”
The AAT’s Sustainability Committee, made up of key AAT staff, is responsible for shaping the company’s sustainability roadmap, strategy, and policies. Notable green initiatives undertaken include transitioning to electric work vehicles, retrofitting the warehouse with energy-efficient LED lighting, and implementing solar-powered LED lights in outdoor areas, which earned us the “Freightweek Sustainability Awards' Sustainable Warehouse Operator of the Year Award” in both 2022 and 2023.
Mr. Chew praised the dedicated spirt of his team, who has remained focused on cargo safety and operational excellence throughout the difficult past few years, while staying ahead of the ever-changing market.
“We have consistently provided our customers with top-tier services. Last year saw the completion of Hong Kong's first on-airport cold chain center with complete temperature-controlled environment, AAT COOLPORT. We have also demonstrated our dedication to best practices in the industry by becoming the first air cargo terminal in Hong Kong to obtain the IATA CEIV Li-batt Certification. As we move forward, we will maintain the momentum, and continue to drive excellence and contribute to a greener future for the air cargo industry and beyond,” said Mr. Chew.
