Hong Kong, 31 October 2025 - Asia Airfreight Terminal (AAT), a subsidiary of SATS Ltd, has been awarded the prestigious CILT Award 2025 for Service Excellence in the Logistics Enterprise Stream by The Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport in Hong Kong (CILTHK). This biennial award recognizes professional excellence in transport and logistics, selecting only one winner in each stream following a rigorous evaluation and presentation to a distinguished judging panel.
The Judge Panel Chair, Dr. Kelvin Leung, International VP (East Asia) & Immediate Past President (Hong Kong) of CILT, commended AAT ’s accomplishment: "The submissions this year showcased the industry’s strong dedication to innovation and service excellence. Our panel of respected industry leaders assessed entries based on operational impact, successful implementation, technological innovation, and overall contribution to the industry. AAT distinguished itself with outstanding initiatives, particularly the pioneering Autonomous Electric Tractor project, demonstrating visionary leadership in transforming terminal operations. We congratulate the AAT team on this remarkable achievement in advancing logistics excellence."
Mike Chew, Chief Executive Officer of AAT, stated, "We are very honored to receive this prestigious award, which reaffirms our commitment to innovation and excellence in air cargo logistics. The successful rollout of AETs represents a significant milestone in our digital transformation journey and underscores our dedication to building a more sustainable future for Hong Kong's logistics industry."
Since April 2024, AAT has been the first cargo terminal in Hong Kong to deploy Autonomous Electric Tractors (AETs) for terminal operations, now fully integrated into daily operations across multi-level terminals. These AETs currently manage over 20% of inbound shipments and have reduced carbon emissions by 35% compared to traditional diesel tractors. The project highlights AAT’s leadership in adopting cutting-edge technologies such as 3D mapping, dGPS navigation, LIDAR sensors, and AI-powered collision avoidance systems. This innovation has enhanced operational resilience during peak periods and adverse weather, while enabling staff to focus on higher-value technical tasks.
Beyond the AET project, AAT continues to invest in innovative technologies to enhance operational efficiency and service quality. In mid-2024, AAT launched COSYS+, a next-generation cargo management system that seamlessly integrates with its core operations, including fully automated cargo handling systems and truck control systems. COSYS+ consolidates real-time flight, cargo, and warehouse data, while sharing up-to-date information with stakeholders such as airlines, ground handlers, and customs through open interfaces. Concurrently, AAT upgraded its truck control system with automatic license plate recognition, reducing truck waiting times at gates and expediting cargo handover. Additionally, the electronic Shipment Release Form (eSRF) is set to launch by year-end, enabling importers to submit cargo release requests and complete payments online, further streamlining the import cargo retrieval process. These initiatives enhance cargo security, optimize workflows, and strengthen operational resilience, enabling us to consistently deliver exceptional service to our customers.
